Project Overview

In 2020, Avon Local Schools approved to build a new 38,000-square-foot Performing Arts Center building with sloped seating and an orchestra pit. Surrounding the new structure would be 37,000 square feet of paving and walking path areas as well as 31,500 square feet of parking space.

KMU Trucking & Excavating was brought in to support the project. We began by clearing the existing landscape island trees and demolishing 84,500 square feet of an existing 8” asphalt pavement layer.

From there, our team installed 1,700 linear feet of new 12–15” HDPE storm lines; installed 4/6/8” PVC storm lines and inlet structures; and directed all storm lines to a redesigned retention pond with four expanded forebays and a micropool. We also installed a new storm outlet control structure.

We also re-routed 340 linear feet of new 8” C909 plastic water line service and conducted hydrostatic, flush, and bacteria testing. More than 220 linear feet of new sanitary sewer line was also installed with a new cored sanitary raceway into an existing sanitary manhole. In total, the project required more than 48,000 cubic yards of import of compactable soils for structural fills.
